Wool, when officer of the day, the 3rd April last, at Champlain, arrested Ensign Gates of the 5th Infantry, and a few days after charged him with sleeping on his post the night of the 5th April, this mistake in the date of the charge...compel a Court, I presume, to acquit the accused, however, it's not Mr. Gates wish, to evade a trial.....
