Affidavit For Timothy Baker



Affidavit of Timothy Howe, of Quincy, Branch, Michigan...who had known Timothy Baker since 1810.  Timothy Howe and Timothy were enrolled in the same company in the War of 1812. [Source]

Timothy Baker volunteered about 15 September 1813 and discharged about 15 December 1813.

Timothy Baker's affidavit taken in Livingston County, New York (he was a resident of Sparta), stated that Timothy Baker was a sergeant in Company of Light Infantry commanded by Captain Daniel Calkins (also mentioned Colonel George Fleming) and that he volunteered at Aurelius, Cayuga County, New York.  He was honorably discharged about 15 December 1813 in Upper Canada at Fort George. 14 April 1871 Timothy Baker was a resident of Geneseo, Livingston, New York.

Timothy Baker (Jr.) was my 1st cousin, 6x removed.

Salmon Steele's Family

SALMON STEELE, to church Jan. 26th, 1817, and baptized same time; was son of Ebenezer, jun., and his wife Lucy (Wright,) born April 7th, 1780; was a brass founder by trade, learned of Barton, of Wintonbury; married Nov. 29th, 1803, Nelly Williams, of West Brookfield, Mass., daughter of Samuel, and his wife Nelly (Wright,) born Sept. 12th, 1786. They lived in various localities, raised a large family on small means. He was a soldier in the war of 1812, and was in the battle of Lundy's Lane. He fell under censure of the church, and, April 12th, 1824, they, after much labor and delay, passed sentence of excommunication. He was a skillful mechanic, with an active and inventive mind. He died June 22d, 1836, aged 55. His widow lives now, 1863, in Almont, Lapeer county, Mich., with her son.
